 CORONAVIRUS INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS.

Coronavirus is now circulating and it is important that all patients follow the most up to date advice and guidance from the government

The advice to the public has changed to state that if you have a fever or sudden onset of dry cough to self-isolate yourself and your household for 2 weeks.

You should self-certify for the first seven if your employer insists on a sick note visit https://111.nhs.uk/isolation-note to generate your own.

Things Gossops Green  Medical Practice are changing and doing:

  • ALL patients attending for a booked appointment will be contacted before attending to filter out possible COVID19 cases.
  • We are canceling routine and review appointments for a few weeks so we can concentrate on patients with acute illness.

DO NOT come to the surgery unless you have an appointment

DO NOT come to the surgery if you have ANY flu-like symptoms, a fever or a cough

DO NOT bring more than one person with you to your appointment (if possible) and ensure they are also symptom-free 

DO NOT come to the surgery for prescription requests, sick note requests and/or collection

DO telephone first

DO consider a telephone consultation as your first point of GP/Nurse contact via the telephone triage

DO order sick notes and medication over the telephone

DO put all prescription and sick requests through the outside the surgery, or call reception and request over the telephone (please note this will still take 3 working days)

DO keep updated on relevant COVID-19 news from the Public Health England

DO try to avoid coming to the surgery if you are considered in a “high risk” group (meaning anyone who is offered the influenza vaccine every year due to a high-risk condition) - According to the national guidance issued on 16/3/2020, this means you should also consider social distancing.

This is going to be a long process and if you want us to be there to help you then please think before you attend. The surgery staff is working incredibly hard to reorganise our processes and manage the capacity. We appreciate all our patients are supportive and considerate of these adjustments. Please tell all family and friends of these adjustments, and keep an eye on the information we will continue to send out.

Most importantly, we hope everyone stays safe and well during the coming weeks and we thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.

LIVI

Open Mon-Fri 7am-10pm and Sat-Sun 8am-4pm

LIVI is an app that lets patients book and see registered NHS GPs by video. It works on mobile and tablet and can be downloaded at the app store. They can offer medical advice, diagnosis, prescription sick-notes and referrals if required.

Any existing patients who are over 16 and currently listed with the practice. Parents can book appointments for their children who are older than 2 and less than 16 years old.

GP online services

Sign up GP online services and you'll be able to use a website or app to:

  • with a GP or nurse
  • GP record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results

How can I start using GP online services?

Follow these steps to access GP online services:

1. Bring photo ID (passport or driving and proof of address (such as a utility bill) to and  you want to start using our online services.

If you do not have any ID then either a member of staff will have to confirm your identity or you may have to answer questions about personal information in your GP record.

2. Once you have signed up, you will receive a letter with your unique username, password and instructions on how to log in.

Following the success of the completion of staff training, we are pleased to announce that Gossops Green Medical is now an Autism Friendly Practice.

We have a new booklet that can help children and young adults to understand what visiting the GP surgery is like.  You can find a copy of this under 'Further Information - learning disabilities' on the right hand side of our website.  Or if you are coming to see one of the Nurses or doctors and you would be interested in having one for a member of your when you next visit.

EDUCATIONAL TRAINING


Brighton and Sussex Medical School with this practice to train medical students to become doctors. We are involved in the teaching of medical means sometimes we will have medical students sitting into learn from our GPs and nurses.

If you do not wish to have students present please inform reception. Any decision you make will not affect your treatment. If you do consent to students, you may still ask the students to leave at any time should you change your mind. If you have any concerns, please discuss with a member of the practice team.


Improved Access Service for additional GP appointments

Evening and weekend access to GP appointments

Patients registered with the majority of GP Practices in Crawley can now access evening and weekend GP appointments (from 1 October 2018). Patients can attend evening and weekend appointments at a primary care hub in the town. The service was designed by NHS Crawley CCG, working in partnership with local patients and clinicians. The hubs are run by for Better Care Ltd, the local GP Federation. How to book into the hubs The GP hubs offer both routine and urgent appointments which can be booked through the patient’s own GP practice in the normal way, during normal opening hours. Clinicians working the hubs will be able to access a patient’s medical with your agreement.

Patients will be asked before any information is shared and can decline if they wish. Your help to design this new service In preparation for this additional, improved access to GP care we sought the views and experiences of local patients and the public through a survey, shared at the end of last year. We are committed to providing all Crawley residents with improved GP access, offering more appointments at times convenient for all patients in the near future. Out of hours care If you need health help now out of service hours, patients can access GP urgent care by telephoning 111. In addition, the Urgent Treatment Centre at Crawley Hospital continues to provide health help for minor injuries and illness.
